The greatest batters in baseball have been lefties: Babe Ruth for example.
I (Evander) was hooked for a time in the early 1990s on “The Sports Writers on TV.” This idiosyncratic show out of Chicago—featuring two old guys, one really old guy, and the kid—made WFAN, and similar sports-talk stations, seem like NPR.
However as the clip below indicates, the program did have its interesting moments. I never knew, for example, that righties outlive lefties (according to the New England Journal of Medicine, ca. 1990) by nine years.
Baseball provides one of the few great advantages in life to the southpaw. Watch and learn.
